FAQ
We developed and tested specialized UV LED's with blinking profiles on low flying aircraft and measured avian responses. Our research demonstrated that these LED's enhance bird awareness, increasing the distance that birds begin to respond to an approaching aircraft, thereby helping them to avoid collisions.
Reported wildlife strikes were up 14% in the last year according to an FAA report "Wildlife Strikes to Civil Aircraft in the United States 1990-2024" released June 2025. They state that wildlife strikes are most likely to occur at landing, followed by flight departure. The least likely risk of bird strikes occur above 500 feet AGL but strikes over 500 feet were more likely to cause more damage than those below 500 feet.
